The Boston Software Process Improvement Network is an organization for professional engineers that serves as a source of educational and scientific information for its members.

Founded in 1993 it now has a membership of over 1000.  Supported entirely by volunteer efforts and funded by sponsors it offers open membership to all - without having to charge any dues!  It is contending to be one of the most successful professional organizations in the country.

In 2006 Sean F. Gaines was recognized by his engineering peers by being elected to lead Boston-SPIN as the Chair of the Steering Committe.

In June of 2007 Sean was re-elected for a second term.

Sean runs the 10k Groton Road Race

Although I have missed a few, I try to run the Groton Road Race every year.  Without a doubt, it is my favorite road race.  It is a great event, with a musket for the start and bag pipes to help keep you motivated as you run a beautiful course around the hills of Groton.

Being a long distance runner, I always run the 10k (6.2m) race.

This year I focused on having fun and talking to folks as I went, but I still finished 65th of 371 in 45:25 with a pace of 7:19 min/mile.
